Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and fabulous New Year's. A lot has been happening recently, so here's the latest update:
Nationwide on RTE
There was a short feature about my jewellery and the story how I got to it on the Nationwide program aired this Monday (6.2.). If you have missed it or don't have a television (I don't have one either), you can watch it here
Inhorgenta Munich, Germany
Tomorrow afternoon I am getting on a plane and flying over to Munich for a four day tradeshow Inhorgenta. This is one of the biggest jewellery events in the world, so I am very excited! My jewellery will be on display together with works of other 9 irish jewellery designers at a group stand, all of that thanks to the kind support of Craft Council of Ireland - more about it here.
Showcase Ireland
The largest craft business event in Ireland - the Showcase - has come and gone. Just like last year I have participated as an exhibitor within the Creative Island - the Crafts Council curated area presenting the best of Irish craft. My aluminium cufflinks succeeded by placing within the Top 50 New Products selection and to the top of it I was awarded the Highly Commended in the Craftsmanship Award!
Plymouth Exhibition
Nicola Hurst Designer Jewellery in Plymouth, England is hosting a very nice event at the moment - the Valentine Exhibition. I have contributed a selection of my work to it, so if you get a chance, have a look. The selection includes some of my newest designs, so don't think that you've seen it all before! The exhibition is open from February 3rd till March 18th.

Celebrating Ireland's Jewellery Makers is the name of the current exhibition at the Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport. The exhibition is showcasing 16 top jewellers working in Ireland and has been oficially open on Monday 14th November. I am very honored that I am one of the nominated and my jewellery is displayed together with works by Maureen Lynch, Alan Ardiff, Inga Reed, Rachel Swan, Angela O'Kelly and others.
Following article about the exhibition was featured in the Sunday Business Post on 13th November and there was a mention in the Sunday Times as well.
The exhibition is on till Christmas, so if you happen to be passing through Terminal 2 any time soon, do have a look. The works are also for sale, there are duplicates available which you can take away with you. And if you are lucky enough and would be traveling on Friday the 18th November, we can meet in person as I will be demonstrating some jewellery making straight there in the middle of the airport terminal !

Hello hello,
I have been very busy recently, so I haven't managed to post this earlier:
this week is the Design Week as you probably know and as a part of it a number of great events is taking place. One of them is the Design Tree 2011 Exhibition organized by the Irish Design Shop and which already has been oficially opened this Wednesday, but there is still plenty of time to visit it till the next Sunday 13th. Visit the exhibition's blog for more info. My part in this exhibition is about 6 designs, some of them have been around a while, some of them are from the new collection and one is brand new bangle which is going to become my flagship design for the Showcase next January.
If you are a regular reader of the business supplement of the Irish Times, you might have come across this inspiring article about the position of the craft in the economy. The most interesting part is the one revealing the fact, that November has been proclaimed as the month of jewellery as a part of the Year of Craft. And as a part of this, a selection of Irish based jewellers (which I have the great honor to be in) will be exhibiting their works at the Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport! If you are planning to travel any time soon be sure not to miss this. The exhibition will be located in a special stand opposite to the House of Ireland shop in T2, which will also be selling some of the jewellery on display.
If this is not enough news for you, I have few more:
Filip Vanas Jewellery is now stocked in Frivoli gallery in Chiswick, London ! This is my first UK shop, hopefully one of many. In Ireland I have topped up stock in my current shops, but also have a new stockist on the list - Core Crafted Design in Balinahown, near Athlone. This shop has a wonderful selection of craft, so if you are going to be in the area, do pop in, it's very worth it!
My jewellery is now also available online on Bouf.com - this is a UK based online store, do check it out! And soon will be launched also an irish online store with all things crafted and designer made, it's called The Designbasket and is officially launching on the 15th November!
I will be doing only one Christmas fair this year. I know, it's sad to be only at one, but with so much going on, I just could not manage more. But it is going to be the sweet and precious Marlay Park Craft Fair, located in the beautiful historical building of Marlay House in Marlay Park in Rathfarnham in Dublin. Let's hope the weather won't be so keen to support the Christmassy feeling with another dose of snow like last year. Fair opens on Friday 25th 6pm - 9pm and Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th 10am - 5pm. Bring lots of cash as credit card facilities won't be available on site.

It's been a busy month since my last post. I have made my way down to London (and back) for the Top Drawer show, which was a brilliant experience. I have met lots of great people, not only buyers, but also fellow exhibitors. And my list of stockists will be getting revised very soon!
But being back in Ireland I am not only busy sorting orders and re-stocking my current shops for the upcoming Christmas season, but I have also managed to extend my online presence. My Autumn/Winter collection is now completelly stocked on the famous Bouf.com! And to give you some extra reason to visit and shop for Christmas early, I am offering a 20% discount until October 23rd! Just become my facebook fan and find the discount voucher code there!
I am certainly not bored these days. Tomorrow, Friday 14th October, the Future Makers Exhibition is kicking off in the Wandesford Quay Gallery in Cork, Ireland. 5 of my pieces will be on display and I will also be attending to the opening myself. Exhibition runs until 4th November.
And at last - one delightful surprise of this week. If you are in Ireland, do buy yourself the November issue of the Irish Tatler. This is, what you will find on page 63:

Appologies for not updating the blog for a while - just a bit too much work! However my facebook page and twitter are a bit more regularly updated, so a good reason to visit them!
Well, the biggest news at the moment is the upcoming Top Drawer Autumn 2011 in London and my presence there. There are only about two weeks left, so the preparations are at the maximum. If you happen to be around London Olympia between 11th and 13th September, do come to say hello. My stand number is V27 and I will be located in the far corner of the National Hall, just across the aisle from the Seminar Theatre. But before you do so, have a look at the official Top Drawer London Autumn/Winter Magazine. Especially check page 13 with the fashion top picks from the show, where my aluminium ring is featured!

I will be showcasing my new Autumn / Winter 2011 collection. This will be again divided into three main design lines - aluminium, silver & resin and silver & coiled coloured wire. The colours of the new collection are orange, blue (in few various tones) and red. The collections contains designs which have been around for a while as well as brand new ones. Top Drawer is also the venue of my official launch of the AW11 collection!
